Company Intro
We are a company that will custom build or sell from existing stock, quality exotic wood boxes. Our business model is to offer the customer one-of-a-kind boxes that won't break the bank to purchase. We at Ozarks Custom Woodworks will custom build a box from a selection of exotic or domestic hardwoods. We have a selection of boxes in stock that are available for immediate shipment, if time is a concern.
These boxes will make exceptional gifts for the person that is hard to purchase gifts for. We at O.C.W. have a passion for woodworking and we will take the time to build a box that you will be proud to display in your home or office.
We will be able to operate at a lower profit margin because we will be an internet based business. No overhead being spent for brick and mortar stores, so we can pass the savings to the consumer. We will be successful because we will reach a broader consumer base on the internet.

Our demographic will be ANY person who needs to purchase an unusual gift for that special someone that is difficult, if not impossible, to buy for. Can you imagine the look of surprise when the mother or father, son or daughter opens up their present and inside is this gorgeous custom wood box.Not that the occasional tie or white dress shirt and not to forget mom, that box of chocolates or new shoes are not great presents, but the box is unusual and a great conversation piece.
I think people really enjoy the beauty of wood and to have something made from a natural resource would make it extra special.

Product Differentiation
Of all the websites of competitors that I have visited, they offer very nice boxes, but are not truly custom.
Custom to me, means that the customer has a decision in the selection of wood and size and shape of the final box.
To distinguish ourselves from the competition, besides price point, will be the fact that you can order YOUR custom made box, not one that is sitting on the shelves. Our motto will be "good things come to those that wait". Of course, we will have to stock some boxes for the immediate sale, but for the most part we will run as a custom shop.

Product Marketing
Initially, our advertising will have to be word of mouth, without a large influx of capitol. But if we happen to fall into a small business loan we can be aggressive in our marketing. I would try to target some of the European market. I have heard that some European's have taken a fancy to items that are crafted in America. I would have to research which would be the best medium for advertising in Europe.
I believe that radio provides the most value for advertising, but I would be open to television ads or ads on popular websites.

Website Design
I visited the Unique Hardwood Art website http://uniquehardwoodart.com/exotic-wood-boxes.html and found the layout to be well thought out and balanced.It seems they do a wide selection of wood products besides just wooden boxes. Their logo on the header seemed to be a little busy but other than that it is a good website. Contact information was available on the home page and they had quite a few categories to explore.
I also visited the Wurrkshop Woods website http://wurrkshopwoods.com/ and liked the simplicity of the design. The black background made the images of the boxes stand out. The text was a little long for a home page but if the text was pared down it would be perfect.
I think I would be more inclined to setup my website like the second site, less clutter and the pictures of the boxes are big enough to get an idea of the craftsmanship.
The only addition I might make to my website is provide contact information and FAQs or at least a link to FAQs that people could click on to find out more information.

My shop is located in my garage and until operations become too big for the space available in the garage, it will do.
And besides, most of my family lives here.
